I have two children and one cottage, which one child wants. How do I equalize my estate?

Because of the different tax treatment of different assets on death, what may at first seem to be an equal division of the estate may not in fact be so, after income taxes are considered. If you have business assets, real estate and financial assets you wish to leave to equal but separate beneficiaries, you should discuss this with your accountant and lawyer prior to completing or updating your will.
