Do I need to register for the GST or HST?

Businesses with sales greater than $30,000 in four consecutive quarters are deemed to register for GST going forward. Additionally, if you charge your customers GST, you are automatically deemed to be registered. Prior to that, registration is optional. It may prove to be beneficial to be registered in any event to claim input tax credits. Please see CRA's general guide for GST/HST.
